Small Thought

Most victories are small,
championed by day,
and forgotten by dark.

Most victories are short,
lost to amnesia,
and forgotten by dark.

Most victories are vain—
worthless flattery
that fosters sickly thoughts.

Most victories are unlike
the mundane modesties
of humanity like

sidewalks,
highways,
and bridges

that can last a lifetime
and take people where they want to go...
Sort of like poetry.
